Savar, Sep 11 (V7N) – Voting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election is underway, with several Vice President (VP) candidates casting their ballots on Thursday morning.

Around 10 am, Chhatra Dal-backed VP candidate Sheikh Sadi Hasan and Chhatra Shibir-backed VP candidate Arif Ullah Adeeb cast their votes at Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall.

Speaking to reporters, Sheikh Sadi Hasan alleged that the university administration was providing undue privileges to candidates from a particular student organization. He also accused the Election Commission of allowing the printing of additional ballot papers to manipulate results.

On the other hand, Arif Ullah Adeeb expressed confidence in the general student body, saying he remained optimistic about victory. He further claimed that despite complaints, the commission had failed to take action against former students who were violating election rules by roaming the campus.

Meanwhile, VP candidates Sadia Islam Khan Kumu and Farhana Rahiman Rithi cast their votes at Begum Khaleda Zia Hall, while Raihan Kabir voted at Kamaluddin Hall. Bagchas-backed VP candidate Arifuzzaman Ujjwal and Independent Students’ Union candidate Abdur Rashid Jitu are scheduled to vote at Al Beruni Hall later in the day.

This year’s JUCSU election features 177 candidates competing for 25 central posts, with eight panels backed by the Left alliance, Islami Chhatra Shibir, Chhatra Dal, and independents. Voting will continue until 5 pm, followed by counting in the Senate Hall of the Old Register Building.
