Cox’s Bazar, Sept 12 (V7N) – The local administration has demolished nearly 20 illegally built structures at Chouankhali Beach in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, as part of a drive to protect the ecologically critical area. The eviction, which cleared over one acre of encroached land, was carried out between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The operation was led by Ukhiya Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Zareen Tasnim Tasnin. She confirmed the drive, stating that unscrupulous traders had constructed cottages and shops under the cover of night, encroaching on the beach.
“We are following High Court directives. No permanent or temporary structures will be tolerated in ecologically critical areas. Such drives will continue to preserve the natural beauty of the coastline,” she said.
Officials from the Forest Department, Beach Management Committee, and Inani Police Outpost were present during the operation.
