Pabna, Sept 27 (V7N) – A mosquito control and cleanliness campaign was conducted in Pabna to raise public awareness about dengue, destroy potential mosquito breeding grounds and promote a cleaner environment.
The campaign was held on Saturday morning in Ward 8 of Pabna Municipality, organised by the district administration with support from the municipality. Scouts from Square School and College also took part in the initiative.
Pabna Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, Deputy Director of the Local Government Division and Municipal Administrator Khairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Moniruzzaman, Additional District Magistrate Liton Dhali, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Umme Tabassum, Municipal Executive Engineer Shahinuzzaman, Municipal Executive Officer Dulal Uddin and Cleanliness Department Inspector Asaduzzaman were among those present.
During the campaign, stagnant water, waste and potential mosquito breeding sites were identified and cleaned at several locations, including Jameya Ashrafia Madrasa and Masum Bazar in Ward 8.
Mosquito control activities were also carried out, while awareness leaflets on dengue prevention were distributed among local residents.
Speakers said administrative measures alone would not be enough to prevent dengue and urged residents to keep their homes and surrounding areas clean. They advised people to ensure that water does not remain stagnant in or around their homes.
They said coordinated efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds could help prevent the spread of dengue and called on residents to maintain regular cleanliness and promote awareness within their communities.
Khairul Islam said similar mosquito control and cleanliness campaigns were conducted on the same day across all municipalities and unions in the nine upazilas of Pabna district as part of efforts to raise public awareness, eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and ensure a clean environment.
