Dhaka, Jun 06 (V7N) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Saturday morning as part of his ongoing official visit to Bangladesh.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed a range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral cooperation, regional developments and opportunities to further strengthen relations between Bangladesh and Turkey.

Officials said the discussions focused on enhancing diplomatic, economic and strategic ties between the two countries, which have maintained friendly relations over the years.

As part of his visit, Hakan Fidan is also scheduled to hold meetings with representatives of various political parties to exchange views on issues of common interest.

The Turkish foreign minister arrived in Dhaka on a three-day official visit on Thursday. Upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, he was received by Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid and Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir.

The visit is being viewed as an important step in further deepening Bangladesh-Turkey relations, with both sides expected to explore new avenues of cooperation in trade, investment, education, defense and regional diplomacy.

Hakan Fidan's visit comes at a time when both countries are seeking to expand engagement across a number of sectors and strengthen partnerships on regional and international issues.
