Dhaka, Jul 09 (V7N)- BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that conspiracies are continuing to tarnish the image of the government and urged all democratic forces to remain vigilant against what he described as defeated elements.
Speaking at a news briefing at the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday, Rizvi said political activists and citizens should remain alert to prevent any attempts to destabilize the country.
He said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has instructed party leaders and activists to stand beside members of the Sanatan community during the Rath Yatra celebrations and help ensure the festival is observed peacefully.
According to Rizvi, party members have been asked to perform their responsibilities "like guards" to maintain security and harmony throughout the religious event.
He also warned of what he described as ongoing domestic and foreign conspiracies and provocations, stressing that all citizens should ensure such efforts do not undermine Bangladesh's long-standing tradition of communal harmony.
Rizvi further alleged that attempts have been made to obstruct the government's school feeding programme and called for immediate legal action against those responsible.
He added that the government has been playing a responsible role in safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty.
