Dhaka, Apr 10 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has started selling party nomination forms for the reserved women’s seats in the National Parliament. The sale began on Friday morning and will continue until April 12.
The price of each nomination form has been set at Tk 2,000, with a deposit of Tk 50,000 required for submission.
The formal inauguration of the form distribution was carried out by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at the party’s central office.
Speaking at the event, Rizvi said the party’s nomination board will select candidates based on their past sacrifices, contributions, and ability to play an effective role in parliament. He reiterated BNP’s commitment to sustaining a democratic environment and assured that qualified candidates would be fairly evaluated. He also urged party leaders and activists to accept the final decisions of the nomination board.
Since early morning, a large number of women leaders and activists from across the country gathered at the BNP office to collect nomination forms, creating a vibrant atmosphere around the process.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has already announced the schedule for the election to the reserved women’s seats. According to EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, polling will be held on May 12, as declared during a briefing at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon on April 8.
In the 350-member National Parliament, 50 seats are reserved for women. Of these, 36 seats are allocated to BNP, 13 seats to its alliance partners including Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, and one seat for independent candidates.
