Dhaka, Mar 23 (V7N) – The health condition of Mirza Abbas, who is undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, is improving, according to Social Welfare Minister Professor AZM Zahid Hossain.

On Monday, the minister said, “Various parameters of Mirza Abbas's body are giving positive signs. His condition is improving. The brain issue will take some time. I ask for everyone’s prayers for him.”

Mirza Abbas was transported from Dhaka to Singapore by air ambulance on March 15 after undergoing brain surgery at Evercare Hospital on March 13. The surgery, performed by a medical board of expert doctors, lasted four hours, after which he spent two days in the ICU before being transferred to Singapore for further treatment.

His personal assistant, Mizanur Rahman Sohel, who is in Singapore, reported that Mirza Abbas was moved from his bed to a chair around 10 am local time, describing it as a positive sign. “He is slowly speaking and is under close observation by the doctors,” Sohel said.

Mirza Abbas’s wife, Afroza Abbas, and son, Yasir Abbas, are staying with him around the clock at the hospital.

The 76-year-old advisor had fallen ill during Iftar on March 11 and lost consciousness, leading to his initial admission to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.

Officials and family members are urging the public to keep him in their prayers as he continues his recovery.
