Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) — Mamata Banerjee has extended her congratulations to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its chairman Tarique Rahman on their landslide victory in the 13th parliamentary elections.

Mamata Banerjee conveyed her greetings through a post on social media X (formerly Twitter) on Friday (February 13) afternoon. She wrote:

"To all the brothers and sisters of Bangladesh, my best wishes, my early Ramadan Mubarak. I congratulate my brother Tarique, his party and other parties for this huge victory of Bangladesh. May everyone be well and happy."

She further expressed hope for continued good relations between Bangladesh and India.

Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Tarique Rahman on BNP’s victory. In his social media post, Modi wrote:

"I sincerely congratulate Tarique Rahman for leading the BNP to a clear victory in the Bangladeshi parliamentary elections. This victory is a reflection of the trust the people of Bangladesh have in your leadership. India will continue to support a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh."

He added that he looks forward to working with the new government to strengthen bilateral ties and advance shared development goals.
