Dhaka, Dec 16 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday said anti-liberation forces are once again attempting to rise, but the people of the country will resist their efforts and establish democracy.

He made the remarks after paying tribute at the mausoleum of former President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in the capital on the occasion of the Great Victory Day.

In the morning, Mirza Fakhrul, accompanied by party leaders and activists, placed wreaths at the grave of Bir Uttam Ziaur Rahman, a sector commander of the Liberation War. After offering Fateha and special prayers, he highlighted Ziaur Rahman’s significant contributions to the War of Independence.

The BNP Secretary General said that forces opposed to Bangladesh’s independence in 1971 are still engaged in conspiracies against the country. He expressed confidence that the people would once again unite to defeat such attempts.

He also said that BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman would further intensify the party’s movement to restore democracy after returning to the country on December 25.
