Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that various conspiracies are still underway to obstruct the implementation of the country’s democratic aspirations, saying there is no reason to trust those who deny the nation’s independence.
He made the remarks while speaking at a discussion meeting organized by the Freedom Fighters’ Party on the occasion of Intellectuals’ Day at the Diploma Engineers Institute in the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said that success can never be achieved through conspiracy, stressing the need to build a democratic Bangladesh through elections based on national unity. “We must move forward without bowing to conspiracies and with the unity of the people,” he said.
He further stated that those who have denied the birth and independence of the country cannot be trusted, adding that there is no justification for forgiving those responsible for killing the nation’s brightest minds. “We cannot allow a new form of fascism to re-emerge by replacing the old,” he added.
Expressing confidence in the electorate, the BNP leader said that the people will make the right decision through the ballot, emphasizing that nothing can be imposed on the country by force.
Referring to recent violent incidents, Mirza Fakhrul alleged that defeated forces are attempting to destabilize Bangladesh, citing what he described as attempts on the lives of Sharif Osman Hadi and Ershadullah from what he termed a fugitive position.
He also said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is expected to return on December 25, calling on party leaders and activists to prepare an unprecedented welcome despite ongoing challenges.
