Dhaka, Dec 10 (V7N)- BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country soon and formally take charge of the party’s political activities, senior BNP leader Mirza Abbas has said. He expressed confidence that Tarique Rahman would guide the nation toward progress with “new ideas and consciousness.”

Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, made the remarks on Wednesday morning (December 10) at a BNP country-building planning program with leaders and activists of the Jubo Dal at the KIB Auditorium in the capital.

“The country needs Begum Khaleda Zia very much at this moment,” Abbas said, describing the BNP chairperson as an “educated guardian” respected by all political parties. He said Khaleda Zia has proven herself as an incomparable national leader.

He noted that prayers for Khaleda Zia’s recovery and return have been offered across the country. “I have never seen so many prayers for one person. People from all walks of life are praying for her,” he added.

Addressing criticism about reforms within the BNP, Mirza Abbas said, “Those who talk about reforms do not understand what reform truly means. For them, reform only means gaining power.”

He emphasized that BNP’s leadership is focused on public interest and strengthening the nation’s political future.
