Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has not given a green signal or nomination to any candidate for the upcoming national elections so far, said the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Speaking at a press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Tuesday morning, Rizvi said nominations will be distributed strictly in accordance with the party’s constitution and policies, not through informal signals.
“Misleading information is being spread in various media outlets. BNP does not give nominations by green signal; it follows the constitution and policies of the party,” he said.
Rizvi added that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has urged aspiring candidates to be “people-friendly,” stressing that only those who are ahead in both party activities and public service will be considered for nomination.
At the same time, he alleged that as the election approaches, a certain group is conspiring to gain political advantage “with the help of fallen fascism.”
