Dhaka, Nov 02 (V7N)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has warned that conspirators and fraudsters are attempting to destroy the country's garment industry by instigating unrest, urging the government to take a firm stance against those involved.

He made the remarks in a Facebook post on Monday (November 2), expressing concern over the ongoing unrest in the garment sector.

In his post, Shafiqur Rahman said incidents of vandalism and arson at industrial establishments in different parts of the country were particularly alarming.

He stressed that neither factory owners nor workers could establish their rights by damaging industrial facilities. He also expressed his belief that genuine garment workers would not engage in such destructive activities.

The Jamaat Ameer further said that around 600 factories had already been declared closed amid the ongoing labour unrest.

Warning of a possible conspiracy to undermine the potential of the country's garment industry, he said the possibility of deliberate attempts to damage the sector could not be ruled out, particularly as the winter season approaches.

He called on factory owners, workers and all other stakeholders to remain sincere, cautious and vigilant to protect the country's vital export-oriented industry.

He also urged the government to take appropriate measures to prevent further unrest and safeguard industrial establishments.
