Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N) – The National Citizens Party (NCP) has announced a protest rally in Dhaka today (Tuesday) against the attack on its Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and other politicians in New York, USA.

The rally, organized by the party’s Dhaka Metropolitan South and North units, will be held in front of the Shahbagh National Museum at 4 pm, where central and metropolitan leaders are expected to speak.

According to the NCP, the protest aims to denounce the attack by what it described as “Awami terrorists,” condemn the interim government’s negligence in ensuring security, and demand accountability for the Awami League as a political party. Simultaneous protest programs have also been instructed at district and upazila levels nationwide.

The incident occurred at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, where Akhtar Hossain, a member of the delegation led by interim government chief Dr. Muhammad Yunus, was egged by Mizan Chowdhury of Sylhet, who was later arrested from Jackson Heights.

At 5:23 am Bangladesh time, NCP Joint Convener Dr. Tasnim Zara wrote on her verified Facebook page: “Eggs have been thrown at Akhtar Hossain, abuse has been made. This is not about Akhtar Hossain as a person, but because of his political identity. He represents the party that is constantly working to break the structure of fascism.”

Meanwhile, video footage of the incident has been circulating on social media.
