Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer (south) of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has said that the party is unfairly blamed for the government’s failures despite all parties recommending advisors in the interim government.
He made the remarks at the third dialogue of Youth State Thinking on Education and Educational Institutions with Human Values at the Diploma Engineering Institute in Kakrail on Saturday.
Abdullah warned that biased media coverage could strengthen the “invisible shadow” conspiring against the country. “We have fought almost alone against media and military forces that worked against Bangladesh. We tell the truth as truth and lies as lies,” he said.
Highlighting expectations for innovation from the NCP, he added that media trials have harmed the party leaders’ reputations. He cited an example from August 5 in Cox’s Bazar, when media reports misrepresented a meeting with US Ambassador Peter Haas. Abdullah stressed that while the NCP is not against media, it demands objectivity.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin Ahmed, BNP Standing Committee member, said the PR issue should be resolved through negotiation, emphasizing that ultimately the people will decide. He added that urging students to withdraw from government activities is insufficient without genuine willingness among students. Ahmed also noted that the judiciary has not yet clarified how the July Charter should be implemented constitutionally.
