Dhaka, Sept 17 (V7N) – Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s Amir and Pir of Charmonai, Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, has called for the urgent recruitment of religious teachers in primary schools, warning that the absence of such measures could compel people to take to the streets.

Speaking at a seminar of the National Olama Mashayekh Aemma Parishad held on Tuesday at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in Kakrail, he said the declining quality of education has left many primary schools nearly empty, while children face moral and ideological shortcomings. He criticized the government for hiring music teachers instead of focusing on religious education, stressing that moral guidance must be prioritized in schools.

The seminar, presided over by Nurul Huda Faizi, also featured Karim’s remarks directed at the BNP. Referring to a recent incident involving a university leader and the Dhaka University vice-chancellor, he said such behavior reflects a lack of proper education. He added that those who claim to uphold Islamic values but simultaneously threaten to resist the spread of so-called fundamentalism are not suitable companions for Islamic scholars and clerics.
