Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has congratulated the winners of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) elections, while also alleging that some irregularities occurred during the voting process.

Speaking at a discussion at the Diploma Engineers Institution in Dhaka on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal on Wednesday morning, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “I congratulate those who won DUCSU. This is the custom of democracy. Since the elections were held after a long time, some irregularities have occurred.”

When asked whether the DUCSU elections could influence national elections, he remarked, “Many of those elected under the banner of national or major parties have gone on to parliament. But none of the independent winners have been able to enter the national parliament so far.”

Salahuddin Ahmed also emphasized that no one wants student politics that fosters fascist tendencies.

In the recent DUCSU elections, candidates of the United Student Alliance, supported by Islami Chhatra Shibir, won 23 out of 28 posts. Sadiq Kayem secured the post of Vice President (VP), SM Farhad was elected General Secretary (GS), and Mohiuddin Khan won the position of Assistant General Secretary (AGS) by a significant margin.
