Dhaka, Aug 30 (V7N) – Muhammad Rashed Khan, General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council, has alleged that Friday’s attack on the party’s president, Nurul Haque Nur, and other leaders was carried out in a planned manner with the intention to kill.
Speaking to reporters at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) on Saturday morning, Rashed Khan said, “The People’s Rights Council did not go to attack the Jatiya Party office yesterday. Police and army personnel came in front of our office and attacked us. Nur was beaten with boots on his chest, his nose was broken, and his eyes were injured. His condition remains critical.”
He demanded that the army chief investigate and take action against army members allegedly involved in the assault.
Accusing the ruling party of influencing state institutions, Rashed Khan said, “Awami League’s allies are still working in the army. They should be dismissed. The Jatiya Party is working in cahoots with the DGFI to become a puppet opposition. They must not be allowed to participate in the election.”
Referring to a viral video of the incident, he asked, “Who is the man in the maroon polo T-shirt? He attacked our leader Samrat. At the same time, army and police members directly attacked Nur.”
Rashed Khan further stated that the Home Affairs Adviser cannot avoid responsibility for the attack. He demanded his resignation and removal from office.
