DHAKA, June 24, V7N — Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced that from 2027, all compulsory and general subject examinations under the Madrasa and technical education boards will be held on the same day with common question papers, alongside the general education boards.
Speaking at a view-exchange meeting with center secretaries of the four education boards ahead of the HSC and equivalent examinations 2026 at Azimpur Girls School and College Auditorium, Milon said the move aims to “remove inequality in the country’s education system.” He noted that with one education ministry and a unified syllabus, there is “no reason” for different boards to use separate papers.
This year, the nine general education boards have already been brought together to use identical question papers. From next year, subjects like Bangla and English will be conducted simultaneously with the same papers for madrasas and technical boards.
Milon, who also holds the primary and mass education portfolio, stressed strict accountability for the current HSC exam’s combined paper rollout. He said question papers from BG Press have been dispatched correctly and must reach centers under the proper code with coordination from Upazila Nirbahi Officers. “If there is any mistake or code failure in the distribution of questions, there will be no way to get around it by expressing ‘sorry’ or regret. Whoever makes mistakes will have to face strict punishment.”
The minister also addressed the Non-Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA), which he established as State Minister for Education between 2001 and 2006. He said NTRCA was intended to certify teacher qualifications like the PMDC for doctors or the Bar Council for lawyers, not to guarantee direct employment, and to curb the unplanned opening of schools and colleges for political gain. He accused the previous government of making the system complex, leaving qualified teachers without jobs into their 50s, and of allowing schools and madrasas to be set up in violation of rules.
A high-level committee has now been formed to coordinate between Ebtedayi and primary schools and bring unregulated institutions under regulation.
Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman attended the meeting, which was chaired by Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Md Akhtaruzzaman. Board chairmen, exam officials, and district and upazila education officers were also present.
