Dhaka, Oct 30 (V7N) — To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, UN Bangladesh inaugurated the “UN80 Youth Photo Exhibition: Youth as Catalysts of Change” on Wednesday at the UN House in Dhaka. The event highlights the creativity, resilience, and leadership of young people across Bangladesh who are contributing to a more peaceful, equal, and sustainable world.

The exhibition features 80 captivating photographs symbolizing the UN’s eight decades of global service. Each image captures a unique story of young Bangladeshis driving change in their communities—whether through environmental initiatives, advocacy for equality, or innovation in education and technology.

“Bangladesh’s young people are already shaping the future, building climate-smart villages, mentoring girls in STEM, advocating for inclusion, and supporting vulnerable families,” said Domenico Scalpelli, Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh. “Each photo calls on the UN, government, and partners to keep investing in youth as leaders, innovators, and equal partners in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.”

The photo contest, announced in September, attracted entries from across the country—including submissions from urban youth, those in remote rural areas, and young Rohingya photographers. A jury consisting of members from youth advisory groups evaluated the entries based on creativity, thematic relevance, and storytelling strength.

Three photographers were honored with the UN80 Youth Awards for their outstanding creativity and compelling narratives.

“My photo conveys a message of hope and change,” said Al Amin Hossain, the first-prize winner. “We, the youth, can transform society by addressing the needs of the most vulnerable—listening to them, understanding their challenges, and ensuring access to education and gender equality. True progress comes only when we move forward together.”

The exhibition will remain open to the public at Shahabuddin Park from October 30 to November 1, 2025, allowing visitors to experience the powerful visual stories created by Bangladesh’s young talents and their visions for a brighter, more inclusive future.
