Dhaka, Sept 10 (V7N) – In the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, Sadik Qayem, the vice president (VP) candidate of Islami Chatra Shibir, and SM Farhad, the general secretary (GS) candidate, have taken a commanding lead in the Karzon Hall polling center and other key halls including Amar Ekushey Hall, Fazlul Huq Hall, Shahidullah Hall, and Shamsunnahar Hall at the University Laboratory School. The result announcement at Karzon Hall began at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the declared results from these four halls, Sadik Qayem received a total of 3,260 votes, while Abdul Islam Khan of Chhatra Dal secured 955 votes. Independent candidate Umama Fatema obtained 786 votes.

In the GS race, SM Farhad of Shibir garnered 2,439 votes, Sheikh Tanvir Hamim of Chhatra Dal received 969 votes, and Abu Bakar Majumdar of the Bangladesh Democratic Student Union got 793 votes.

Abdul Islam Khan, the VP candidate of Chatra Dal, rejected the preliminary results early Wednesday night. In a Facebook post around 2:30 a.m., he stated, “I anticipated these results of planned manipulation right after noon. They have set numbers according to their own agenda. I reject this orchestrated farce.”

The early vote counts have already sparked tension among student groups, raising concerns about potential disputes as the election results continue to be announced.
