Rangamati, Mar 16 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Army has provided new houses and Eid gifts to hundreds of helpless residents in remote hilly areas of Rangamati ahead of Eid al-Fitr, bringing relief and hope to many homeless families.

As part of a humanitarian initiative in Jurachhari upazila, the army constructed new houses, renovated damaged homes and distributed Eid gifts among more than a hundred underprivileged families in remote areas.

The programme was implemented under the supervision of the Headquarters 305 Infantry Brigade and organised by the Jurachhari Zone (2 Bir).

Under the initiative, 20 new houses were built for homeless families while five dilapidated houses were renovated. Each house was equipped with basic facilities including fans, lights, beds and other essential items.

In addition, Eid gifts were distributed among 91 local families.

The newly constructed and renovated houses were formally handed over to the beneficiaries at a ceremony held on Sunday in the presence of Brigadier General Mohammad Nazmul Haque, Commander of the 305 Infantry Brigade.

Jurachhari Zone Commander Lt Col Rashed Hasan Sejan, local headmen, traders and other community leaders were also present at the event.

Speaking to reporters after the handover ceremony, Brigadier General Nazmul Haque said the initiative was taken to support helpless, disabled and homeless people in the region during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Our soldiers have completed the construction work with great dedication and sincerity. We hope these houses will reduce the suffering of the beneficiaries and help improve their quality of life,” he said.

Jurachhari upazila is considered one of the most remote areas in the region due to difficult geographical conditions and limited communication and socio-economic opportunities.

Despite these challenges, the Bangladesh Army continues to work to maintain security, ensure peace and support socio-economic development in the hill districts.

Local residents who received the new houses expressed gratitude to the 305 Infantry Brigade and Jurachhari Zone authorities for the humanitarian assistance, saying it has brought relief and renewed hope to their families.
