Pabna, Sept 4 (V7N) – Hasadul Islam Hira, former Member Secretary of the BNP's Chatmohar Upazila unit and a nomination aspirant for Pabna-3 constituency, delivered a sharp political message during a mass rally held at Baluchar Field in Chatmohar on Wednesday. Speaking as the chief guest at the event marking the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Hira openly questioned the local support of rival nomination seeker and central president of the Krishak Dal, Hasan Jafir Tuhin.
Hira told the crowd that the rally itself was evidence of whom the people of Pabna-3 truly support. He emphasized that he had not invited any central or district-level leaders to the event, underlining the rally’s grassroots nature. He claimed to have arranged the field for the whole day but allowed the Krishak Dal president to use it briefly to test his acceptance among the local population.
Referring to an earlier gathering by the Krishak Dal, Hira said, “Even 700 to 800 chairs remained empty.” He further alleged that caps bearing the images of BNP leaders Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman were discarded and rejected by the people during that event.
Addressing Hasan Jafir Tuhin directly, Hira stated, “You have been clearly rejected by the people of Chatmohar, Bhangura, and Faridpur. It would be best for you to step aside with dignity.”
In his speech, Hira also criticized the current government, saying that during its rule, BNP activists faced severe repression, business closures, and imprisonment. He claimed his own business was destroyed and that he had to live in hiding for months, away from his family. In contrast, he accused other local leaders of collaborating with the ruling party to avoid consequences.
Calling on BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Hira urged him to carefully assess the ground reality of Pabna-3 and to nominate a candidate based on popularity and grassroots support. He denied reports that any preliminary nomination had already been given, labeling such claims as false and an attempt to “occupy” the constituency in the name of central leadership.
Hira also made strong development pledges, stating that within two months, at least 100 kilometers of paved roads would be constructed in Chatmohar. He promised 86 new primary schools and development projects worth Tk 250 crores over the next year. “If I fail, hold me accountable. I will leave politics altogether,” he said.
Thousands of party activists and supporters from various wards and unions joined the rally in festive processions, turning the event into a massive public gathering.
The event was presided over by Touhidul Islam Taizul, General Secretary of Chatmohar Municipal BNP, and moderated by Rakibul Islam Hriday, Joint Convener of the Upazila Chatra Dal. Among the speakers were former union chairmen, BNP union leaders, and Chatra Dal activists including Al Mamun, Golam Maola, Ismail Hossain, Saiful Islam, Abdur Razzak Palon, Yasin Ali, Afsar Ali, Mohsin Ali, and others.
