Dhaka, Jun 20 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has warned that gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour may sweep across eight districts of the country, accompanied by rain and thunderstorms.
The warning was issued for the country's inland river ports and remains valid until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 20).
According to the Met Office, temporary gusty or stormy winds are likely to blow from the east or southeast over Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet districts. Rain or thundershowers are also expected in these areas.
In light of the forecast, inland river ports in the affected districts have been advised to display Local Cautionary Signal No. 1.
In a separate weather bulletin, the Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely across all divisions of the country through Saturday evening. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also expected in some areas, with the current weather pattern likely to persist over the next few days.
Authorities have advised the public, particularly those using river transport, to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions and avoid staying in open areas unnecessarily due to the risk of thunderstorms and strong winds.
