Dhaka, Apr 28 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds across several parts of the country, prompting warning signals for both sea and river ports.

According to a notification issued for inland river ports from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, winds with speeds of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour may sweep across regions including Dhaka, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet from the west or northwest direction.

In response, the country’s major seaports—Chittagong Port, Cox's Bazar Port, Mongla Port and Payra Port—have been advised to display local warning signal number 3.

River ports in the affected regions have been instructed to hoist warning signal number 2.

Meanwhile, the Khulna, Barisal and Patuakhali regions may experience thunderstorms with gusty or squally winds ranging from 45 to 60 kilometers per hour. River ports in these areas have been advised to display warning signal number 1.

Authorities have urged relevant stakeholders, including river transport operators and coastal residents, to remain alert and take necessary precautions in light of the adverse weather conditions.
