Dhaka, Mar 12 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in eight divisions of the country, including Dhaka, over the next few days. Stormy weather with gusty winds may affect three regions on Wednesday (March 11) night, according to official bulletins issued by the department.

In a warning for inland river ports valid until 1:00 am, the weather office said temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45–60 km/h may blow from the west or northwest over the Rajshahi, Jessore and Sylhet regions. Rain or thundershowers may accompany the winds.

River ports in these areas have been instructed to hoist warning signal number 1.

Rain Possible Across the Country

In another forecast covering the next 120 hours from 6:00 pm Wednesday, the weather department said that the extension of a low-pressure system lies over West Bengal and adjacent areas, while the seasonal low pressure remains over the south Bay of Bengal.

Due to these conditions, rain or thundershowers with gusty winds may occur at one or two places in the divisions of:

  • Rangpur Division

  • Rajshahi Division

  • Dhaka Division

  • Mymensingh Division

  • Khulna Division

  • Barisal Division

  • Chittagong Division

  • Sylhet Division

During this period, daytime temperatures across the country may drop by 1–2 degrees Celsius, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

According to the department, the highest temperature in the last 24 hours was recorded jointly in Rangamati and Baghabari at 33.5°C. The lowest temperature, 17.2°C, was also recorded in Rangamati.
