Dhaka, Mar 16 (V7N) — A fire broke out at Benarasi Palli in the Mirpur area of the capital late Sunday night, prompting a quick response from the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

According to fire officials, the blaze started around 1:20 am on Sunday in Mirpur-10’s well-known Benarasi Palli, a commercial area famous for its traditional bridal saree shops. After receiving the emergency call, two firefighting units were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Duty officer Rashid Bin Khalid of the Fire Service confirmed the development, stating that the units arrived shortly after the alarm and began efforts to contain the flames. After nearly 25 minutes of continuous firefighting operations, the blaze was successfully brought under control.

Firefighters worked swiftly to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby shops and structures in the densely packed commercial zone, which is known for its textile and garment businesses.

Authorities said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined. There were also no immediate reports of casualties or injuries at the time of filing this report.

Officials added that further investigations are underway to determine the origin of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.
