Dhaka, Nov 05 (V7N)- A total of 33 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in industrial areas across Dhaka and its surrounding districts to strengthen security amid worker dissatisfaction and maintain law and order.

The deployment aims to ensure the safety of garment factories and other industrial establishments, protect workers and prevent any disruption to production activities.

BGB personnel are on duty in Mirpur, Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur and Narayanganj. Of the 33 platoons, three have been deployed in Mirpur, 11 in Savar and Ashulia, 12 in Gazipur and seven in Narayanganj.

To strengthen security and respond quickly to possible disturbances, the force has deployed Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) and Riot Control Vehicles (RCVs) in the industrial zones.

The BGB has also stepped up technology-based surveillance. Drones are being used for live monitoring of the overall situation, while personnel are equipped with body-worn and improvised body-worn cameras to monitor activities on the ground.

Security operations are being monitored and coordinated around the clock through the monitoring cell at BGB headquarters.

BGB personnel are working in coordination with local administrations and police to maintain a peaceful environment and respond to any potential unrest. They remain on alert, with the situation in the industrial areas under close observation.

The deployment is intended to prevent disorder arising from worker dissatisfaction, ensure workers' safety, maintain normal working conditions and keep industrial production running. The BGB said its security activities would continue as necessary to maintain public safety and normal law and order.
