Dhaka, Aug 29 (V7N)- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that special units have been formed across the country to recover looted and illegal weapons.
He made the remarks after a quarterly crime review meeting with law enforcement agencies at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium on Saturday (August 29).
The Home Minister said those who provide information leading to the recovery of looted weapons will receive rewards ranging from Tk 10,000 to Tk 2 lakh. A reward of Tk 2 lakh will be given for information on heavy weapons, while Tk 50,000 will be provided for light weapons.
He also assured that the identities of individuals providing information about weapons would be kept confidential.
Salahuddin Ahmed said drives have already been launched across the country to arrest extortionists and terrorists. Police officers who fail to take appropriate action against extortionists and terrorists will also face action, he warned.
During the meeting, police officials highlighted their need for greater technical assistance to strengthen law enforcement and maintain public safety. They also raised several other issues related to improving their operational capabilities.
