Dhaka, Aug 23 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday formally inaugurated the Navy and Air Force Selection Board 2026 at Air Force Headquarters in Dhaka.
The Prime Minister attended the inauguration as the chief guest and officially opened the promotion board, where eligible officers of the Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force will be considered for their next ranks.
Officers eligible for promotion to the ranks of Captain, Commander and Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, and Group Captain, Wing Commander and Squadron Leader in the Air Force, are being considered by the respective selection boards.
Before the proceedings began, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman conferred the Admiral rank badge on Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Khondaker Misbah-ul-Azeem.
Addressing the selection board, the Prime Minister stressed that professional competence, leadership qualities, discipline and foresight should be given priority in evaluating officers for promotion, rather than political ideology, personal preferences or likes and dislikes.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and merit in the armed forces to strengthen their operational capabilities and institutional standards.
Later, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited several important operational establishments of the Bangladesh Air Force and was briefed on their activities and capabilities.
