Dhaka, Jul 23 (V7N)- Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 446 people in a special anti-crime operation conducted across the capital over the past 24 hours.
During the drive, police filed 56 cases against the arrested individuals in connection with various crimes.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department Niaz Mehdi confirmed the information on Thursday (July 23).
He said the arrests were made during raids in crime-prone areas under different police stations in Dhaka. The detainees were arrested for various offenses, including cases involving the recovery of narcotics.
According to DMP, the operation was conducted by different divisions of the metropolitan police. Ramna Division arrested 21 people, Lalbagh Division 38, Wari Division 104, Motijheel Division 49, Tejgaon Division 74, Mirpur Division 83, Gulshan Division 38, Uttara Division 35 and the Detective Branch arrested 4 people.
During the operation, police recovered one foreign-made pistol with a magazine, 3,755 pieces of Yaba tablets, 9 kilograms and 5 grams of marijuana, 7 grams of heroin, one microbus, one cart, one knife, five mobile phones and one motorcycle.
Police also rescued one victim during the drive.
DMP said legal proceedings against those arrested are currently underway.
