Dhaka, Jul 15 (V7N)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on every student in the country to plant at least one sapling to contribute to environmental protection.
He made the call while attending the Primary Education Medal-2026 award ceremony at the China Friendship Conference Center in the capital on Wednesday (July 15) morning.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the event by planting a sapling at the beginning of the ceremony. Later, while addressing students gathered outside the venue, he encouraged them to take part in tree plantation activities.
As part of the government's election manifesto commitment, various competitions were organized for students from third to fifth grade across the country to encourage creativity, talent development and positive thinking among children.
The competitions were conducted in phases, beginning at the upazila level and progressing through different stages to the national level.
According to organizers, a total of 2 crore 18 lakh 28 thousand 693 students from schools across the country participated in the competitions.
The students selected as the best performers after completing all stages of the competitions are being awarded the Primary Education Medal-2026 at the ceremony.
