Dhaka, Jul 05 (V7N) — Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that national security strategies should be designed in a way that ensures people do not feel isolated from the head of government, emphasizing that public confidence is a cornerstone of a democratic state.
He made the remarks while attending the 51st founding anniversary of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) at its headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday afternoon.
The Prime Minister said that in a democratic country, the people place their confidence and trust in the head of government. He stressed that security arrangements should be formulated in a manner that preserves that connection while ensuring effective protection.
He also said that the President Guard Regiment, as a specialized force, has no room to fall behind in training, technological advancement and professional excellence.
Highlighting the role of the armed forces, Tarique Rahman said that if discipline and professionalism are maintained, the country's sovereignty will remain secure against any threat.
The Prime Minister further called on all security forces to remain vigilant and prepared to address emerging challenges, including those related to cyber security.
