Dhaka, Jul 05 (V7N) — President Md. Shahabuddin has reaffirmed the government's commitment to developing Bangladesh's armed forces into a modern four-dimensional force, saying the country's defense planning is being guided by the 'Bangladesh First' policy.

He made the remarks while addressing the 51st founding anniversary of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) at Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday morning.

The President said the government has adopted the 'Bangladesh First' policy in formulating the country's defense strategy, enhancing deterrence capabilities and determining national security priorities. He expressed confidence that the implementation of these policies and initiatives would significantly strengthen the overall capability and operational efficiency of the armed forces.

He said the government's objective is to build a defense system that is efficient, modern and capable of meeting evolving security challenges. As part of that vision, he added, the President Guard Regiment will continue to strengthen its role as a specialized unit of the Bangladesh Army.

The President also praised the PGR for its professionalism and dedication, expressing hope that its members would continue to uphold the trust of the people through honesty, discipline, devotion and the highest standards of professionalism.

He said the regiment would further enhance its operational capability in the coming years through the adoption of modern technology, international-standard training and continued professional excellence.
