Dhaka, Jun 17 (V7N) – The government has allocated Tk 18,000 crore for the technical education sector in the current fiscal year as part of its efforts to strengthen human resource development, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said on Wednesday.
He made the remarks while speaking at the Deans’ Award ceremony held at Jagannath University.
The Education Minister stated that the government is prioritizing technical education to build a skilled workforce and is working toward increasing education sector allocation to 3.5 percent of GDP in the upcoming national budget.
He emphasized the need for collective efforts from teachers, guardians, and stakeholders to develop human resources, noting that academic achievement alone is not sufficient. According to him, greater importance must be placed on ethics, values, and cultural development alongside formal education.
The minister also said the curriculum and syllabus are being updated to make education more relevant to current needs.
Highlighting past education policies, ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said that different governments had introduced various initiatives, including stipend programs for female students and incentive-based education schemes. He noted that several positive changes had taken place in the education sector over the years.
He further added that continued reforms and increased investment are necessary to improve the overall quality and accessibility of education in the country.
