DHAKA, BANGLADESH, March 21, (V7N )— Prime Minister’s adviser Mahdi Amin has said that workers across the country returned to their homes “with smiling faces” this Eid, attributing the improvement to effective initiatives and close supervision by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

In a verified Facebook post on Saturday, the adviser highlighted a significant shift in the পরিস্থিতি within industrial zones, noting the absence of the শ্রম unrest and uncertainty that had marked previous Eid periods.

“Labour unrest, unpaid salaries, road blockades and uncertainty over returning home were common in past years. But this year’s picture is completely different,” he said, adding that a sense of relief and satisfaction now prevails among workers.

According to the adviser, most workers — including those in the ready-made garment sector — received their salaries and Eid bonuses ahead of the festival, allowing them to travel home without disruption.

“All factories have paid February salaries and Eid bonuses peacefully, and many have also paid a significant portion of the current month’s wages,” he stated.

He emphasized that the coordinated effort was made possible through direct instructions from the Prime Minister, alongside the active role of the labour and employment authorities.

“This massive operation has been possible due to the Prime Minister’s supervision and the sincerity of the labour and employment ministry,” the adviser added.

For several years, concerns over delayed wage payments and labour protests had created anxiety ahead of Eid, particularly in major industrial belts. The improved পরিস্থিতি this year has been welcomed as a positive development for workers and employers alike.

The remarks come amid nationwide Eid celebrations, with millions of workers traveling to their hometowns to mark the festival with their families.
