DHAKA, March 6, (V7N) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has urged stronger partnerships with the international community, emphasizing expanded trade and investment, technology transfer, cultural and educational exchanges, and closer people-to-people ties.

Speaking at an iftar hosted for diplomats at the State Guest House Jamuna, the premier said: “We believe prosperity today is built through cooperation and connectivity, not isolation.”

Ambassadors, foreign mission representatives, cabinet members, and lawmakers attended the gathering, marking Rahman’s first formal Ramadan event since assuming office.

The Prime Minister outlined his government’s priorities, including prudent deregulation, improving the ease of doing business, and fostering a competitive environment to attract responsible investment. He stressed the importance of law and order, macroeconomic stability, and human resource development through training and upskilling.

Rahman reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to liberal economic policies, public-private partnerships, and transparency in governance. He pledged firm measures against corruption and emphasized democracy as an ongoing process of inclusion and dialogue.

Highlighting social initiatives, he announced plans to introduce Family Cards and Farmers’ Cards for targeted support, expand vocational education, add a third language to curricula, and strengthen preventive healthcare in rural areas.

On climate issues, Rahman said Bangladesh remains committed to advancing resilience and sustainable development in cooperation with global partners.

The Prime Minister also introduced Bangladesh’s candidate, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, for the presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly (2026–2027 term), seeking international support.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir also spoke at the event.
