Lakshmipur, Feb 21 (V7N) — Water Resources Minister and Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, has said the proposed “July Charter” will be placed in parliament as a natural process, noting that there is no need for a separate oath regarding the matter.

He made the remarks on Saturday morning (February 21) while speaking to journalists after paying tribute to the language martyrs at the Lakshmipur Central Shaheed Minar.

“Yes Vote Already Reflected”

The minister said parliamentary elections have already been held and members of parliament have taken oath. Referring to a referendum, he stated that the “yes” vote had prevailed and therefore the related bill would be presented in parliament in due course, automatically taking effect once passed.

Call to Avoid “Mob Culture”

Annie warned against creating what he described as a “mob” or chaotic environment, saying such a culture could hinder Bangladesh’s development. He urged all groups to step back from confrontation and work responsibly to support national progress.

He added that while differing opinions may exist, constructive cooperation with the government is essential. Anyone acting outside this framework, he cautioned, would bear responsibility for the consequences.

Emphasis on Cooperation

The minister also stressed the need for sincere dialogue on how to move the country forward, urging political actors and citizens alike to focus on productive work rather than opposition for its own sake.

Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations from district and upazila levels were present at the event.
