Dhaka, Feb 20 (V7N) — Devout Muslims across Bangladesh offered the first Friday (Jumu’ah) prayers of the holy month of Ramadan, with mosques nationwide witnessing exceptionally large congregations.

In the capital, one of the biggest gatherings took place at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, where thousands of worshippers began arriving from around 12:15 pm. As the mosque reached full capacity, many people performed prayers on the stairs and adjacent streets.

Higher Attendance During Ramadan

The significance of Friday prayers during Ramadan traditionally draws far more worshippers than usual. Despite the heat, people from different parts of the city gathered in large numbers to join the congregation.

Prayers for Nation’s Well-being

Following the prayers, special supplications were offered seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for the country and its people.

Mosque authorities and volunteers helped manage the large crowds, ensuring the prayers concluded peacefully.
