Dhaka, Feb 16 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will form the government after winning 209 seats in the 13th National Parliament. The oath-taking ceremony of newly elected MPs is scheduled for tomorrow morning (Tuesday, February 17), followed by the cabinet swearing-in in the afternoon at the National Parliament Bhaban.

In view of expected large crowds and VVIP movements, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special traffic instructions. Traffic will be restricted from 8 AM to 7 PM on Tuesday along Manik Mia Avenue and Lake Road, and residents are advised to use alternative routes.

  • Lake Road: Khejur Bagan Crossing to Manik Mia Avenue

  • Ganabhaban Crossing (July Memorial Museum) to Udojahaz Crossing

Diversion Points and Alternative Routes

  1. Mirpur Road → Farmgate via Manik Mia Avenue: Right turn at Defence Gap → China Friendship Conference Center → Aircraft Crossing → Bijoy Sarani → Farmgate.

  2. Dhanmondi → Farmgate: Right turn at Asadgate → Defence Gap → China Friendship Conference Center → Aircraft Crossing → Bijoy Sarani → Farmgate.

  3. Farmgate from Asadgate: Left to Ganabhaban Crossing → Defence Gap → Right to China Friendship Conference Center → Aircraft Crossing → Bijoy Sarani → Farmgate.

  4. Elevated Expressway/Indira Road → Dhanmondi: Right at Khejur Bagan → Aircraft Crossing → China Friendship Conference Center → Left Defence Gap → Left Asadgate → Dhanmondi.

  5. Mirpur Road → Dhanmondi: Southbound traffic can use Shyamoli → Shishumela → Ganabhaban → Asadgate → Dhanmondi 27.

Elevated Expressway Guidance

Drivers are advised to use the FDC (Hatirjheel) ramp instead of the Farmgate exit ramp to prevent congestion.

The DMP has urged all drivers to avoid Manik Mia Avenue and Lake Road and follow the above instructions from 8 AM to 7 PM to ensure smooth movement during the swearing-in ceremony.
