Dhaka, Jan 28 (V7N) — Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has said that the protests that erupted after the July coup, along with the internet shutdown, ultimately led to the fall of a powerful government.
He made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Digital Device and Innovation Expo–2026’ on Wednesday morning.
In his address, Dr. Yunus emphasized that the youth will lead the new Bangladesh, calling on young people to play a significant role not only at the national level but also on the global stage.
The Chief Advisor said that the longstanding tendency to apply traditional thinking to the technology sector must be overcome in order to achieve meaningful progress.
Drawing a parallel between political and technological change, Dr. Yunus said that just as the July movement opened the door to new possibilities in the country’s politics, the Digital Device and Innovation Expo would similarly create new opportunities in the information technology sector.
He also expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of effective implementation of digital initiatives, despite repeated discussions about digitalization.
“Although we talk about digitalizing everything, very little is actually implemented,” he said, adding that most digital services within ministries should be made accessible to the general public.
The expo aims to showcase innovations in digital devices and emerging technologies, highlighting the role of technology in shaping the future of Bangladesh.
