Dhaka, Dec 25 (V7N)- Christmas, the principal religious festival of the Christian community, is being celebrated today across the country with deep religious devotion, prayers, and festive enthusiasm.

Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity, was born in Bethlehem on December 25. Christians around the world observe the day as Christmas Day or Merry Christmas, commemorating his birth and teachings. From early morning, special prayers and religious services have been held in churches nationwide.

Christians believe that Jesus Christ came to the world to guide humanity toward truth, justice, and righteousness by preaching the glory of God and the message of peace and compassion.

Like many other countries, Bangladesh is also observing Christmas with due religious solemnity and joyous celebrations. Churches and Christian religious institutions across the country, including those in the capital Dhaka, have been decorated festively to mark the occasion.

Illumination arrangements were made at various churches and star hotels in Dhaka and other major cities from Wednesday evening (December 24). Special midnight prayers were also organized, alongside kirtan and religious song performances in different parts of the country.

To celebrate the festival with loved ones, many residents of the capital have traveled to their village homes. Meanwhile, star hotels in Dhaka have been adorned with decorative lighting, artificial Christmas trees, and Santa Claus figures, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Christmas celebrations will continue throughout the day with prayers, gatherings, and community events, reflecting the spirit of harmony, joy, and goodwill.
