Savar, Dec 16 (V7N) — To honor the brave martyrs on the Great Victory Day, thousands of people from all walks of life thronged the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar from the early hours of Tuesday.

Following the tribute paid by President Md. Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser to the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the memorial premises were opened to the general public. People of all ages came forward to remember the valiant sons of the nation with profound respect and gratitude.

Even before sunrise, the entire National Memorial area was filled with a festive yet solemn atmosphere. Braving dense fog and the biting winter cold, people arrived in large numbers carrying red-and-green national flags, their hearts filled with patriotism.

Various political, social and cultural organizations also paid homage by placing wreaths at the altar of the martyrs, accompanied by banners and festoons.

The presence of children wearing national flags on their heads and alpana painted on their cheeks added to the spirit of victory. Voices across the memorial echoed with commitments to build a non-communal and discrimination-free Bangladesh, while many expressed firm resolve to pass on the ideals of the Liberation War to the younger generation.
