Dhaka, Nov 30 (V7N) – Teachers of government secondary schools in Bangladesh have announced a full-day strike starting December 1, demanding the upgrade of their posts from 10th grade to 9th grade.

The announcement was made during a protest by the Government Secondary Teachers Association in front of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education on Sunday morning.

The teachers claimed that positions in lower grades have already been upgraded to grade 9, while assistant teachers in the 10th grade have seen no movement despite legitimate justification. They alleged that this longstanding discrimination has forced them to take this step.

The agitating teachers said they would return to their educational institutions only after their demands are fulfilled. They added that this protest follows several previous attempts to resolve the issue.
