Dhaka, Nov 10 (V7N) — Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan Admiral Naveed Ashraf arrived in Bangladesh on a three-day official visit aimed at enhancing naval cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
On Sunday, Admiral Ashraf paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters in Banani. Upon his arrival, he was received with a Guard of Honour by a well-decorated contingent of the Bangladesh Navy.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two naval chiefs discussed matters related to professional and training cooperation between their respective forces. They also expressed optimism about strengthening existing bilateral relations through continued collaboration in various maritime domains.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including members of the Pakistan Navy delegation, the Pakistani High Commissioner to Bangladesh, the Defense Attaché, and principal staff officers from the Bangladesh Navy Headquarters.
Earlier, Admiral Ashraf paid tribute to the martyred members of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces who sacrificed their lives during the 1971 Liberation War by placing a floral wreath at the Shikha Anirban monument. On the same day, he also called on the Chief of Army Staff.
During his stay, the Pakistani Navy Chief is scheduled to meet the Chief of Air Staff, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, the Commandant of the National Defence College, and naval administrative authorities in Chattogram.
Coinciding with his visit, the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Saif arrived in Chattogram on a goodwill tour, further reflecting the growing naval diplomacy between the two nations.
Admiral Naveed Ashraf is expected to depart Bangladesh on Wednesday upon completion of his official engagements.
