Dhaka, Oct 28 (V7N)- The National Consensus Commission has submitted its recommendations for the implementation of the July Charter to Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The commission has recommended holding a referendum and amending the constitution within nine months after the charter’s directives are issued.
On Tuesday (October 28) at noon, commission members handed over the recommendations at Jamuna, the residence of the Chief Advisor.
The commission had held its closing meeting on Monday at the State Guest House, Jamuna, presided over by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, who also serves as the commission’s president.
The National July Charter, whose signing ceremony was held on October 17, has already been signed by 24 political parties and alliances, including BNP-Jamaat. The Gono Forum signed two days later, while some leftist parties, including the NCP, have yet to sign. The National Consensus Commission will convene a formal meeting shortly to address these pending signatories.
