Dhaka, Oct 10 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) has issued a special alert for all international and domestic airports across the country amid growing concerns over possible cyber attacks.
The directive, signed by Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, Member (Planning and Operations) of the BCAA, was sent to all airport heads and senior civil aviation officials on Thursday (October 9).
According to the notification, several airports around the world have recently been targeted by cyber attacks, prompting Bangladesh to heighten its digital security posture to ensure uninterrupted air transport operations.
The BCAA issued 10 special instructions to strengthen cybersecurity, including:
-
Using strong passwords;
-
Avoiding suspicious emails and links;
-
Regularly updating software and antivirus programs;
-
Refraining from using pirated software;
-
Avoiding personal app installations on official devices; and
-
Enabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) for system access.
Officials have also been instructed to immediately report any cyber security–related issues to the CAAB CERT Team, IT Department, and the National Cyber Incident Response Team.
The alert follows recent cyber attacks that disrupted operations at major airports, including London’s Heathrow, Brussels in Belgium, and Berlin in Germany. Authorities in Bangladesh have therefore taken precautionary steps to fortify digital defenses and protect the nation’s aviation infrastructure.
