Dhaka, Aug 06 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast gusty winds and thunderstorms in six districts of the country until Thursday afternoon, advising inland river ports in the affected areas to remain on alert.

In a weather warning issued for inland river ports valid until 1:00 pm on Thursday, the Met Office said temporary rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds of 45 to 60 km/h may occur over the Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar regions.

According to the forecast, the winds are expected to blow from the south or southeast, with the possibility of localized thunderstorms during the period.

In view of the weather conditions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has instructed inland river ports in the affected districts to display Cautionary Signal No. 1 from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Authorities have advised boat operators and people living in the affected areas to remain cautious and follow weather updates as conditions may change rapidly.
