Dhaka, Aug 27 (V7N) – The Cabinet Division has formed an eight-member committee comprising government advisors and representatives of professional engineering bodies to review the demands of both BSc engineers and diploma engineers and make recommendations.
The committee was announced in a notification signed by the Additional Secretary (Committee and Finance) of the Cabinet Division’s Committee Affairs Branch on Wednesday (August 27).
According to the notification, the committee will examine the reasonableness of professional demands made by both BSc degree holders and diploma engineers, and submit recommendations to the government within one month.
The committee will be chaired by Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Advisor to Power, Energy and Mineral Resources. Other members include:

Additionally, Kazi Muhammad Mozammel Haque, Additional Secretary (SOWBA) of the Ministry of Public Administration, has been appointed as the member secretary.
The terms of reference state that the committee may induct additional members if necessary.
The development comes amid an escalating standoff: BSc engineers, including those from BUET, have been demonstrating with a three-point demand, including preventing diploma engineers from using the title "engineer." Meanwhile, diploma engineers have placed seven demands, among them blocking BSc engineers from being appointed as deputy assistant engineers.
