Rangpur, July 1 (V7N) — The National Citizens Party (NCP) has launched its countrywide program titled “July March to Build the Nation” by paying tribute at the grave of July Uprising martyr Abu Sayeed in Rangpur.
On Tuesday morning, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, and senior leaders of the party visited Abu Sayeed’s grave at Babanpur Jafarpara village and offered their respects.
Speaking on the occasion, Nahid Islam said, “The July Uprising was not merely about changing a government. It was a movement to establish a new political settlement. Unfortunately, the dream of building a discrimination-free Bangladesh remains unfulfilled. There has also been unnecessary delay in implementing the July Charter and Declaration.”
NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain echoed this sentiment, demanding justice for those who committed crimes against humanity during the July Uprising. He called for repealing the existing constitution and holding elections for a Constituent Assembly to lay the foundation for a new Bangladesh.
After visiting the grave, NCP leaders met with the family of martyr Abu Sayeed. The central delegation included Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, Senior Joint Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud, and Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Zara.
Later in the day, the NCP leaders commenced a road rally towards Gaibandha. They are scheduled to march through Rangpur’s Park intersection, Lalbagh, Shapla Chattar, and Jahaz Company intersection before holding a rally at Town Hall at 3 pm.
The NCP announced that this program will be held in all 64 districts across the country in phases as part of their ongoing movement.
